The Gendarmerie, numbering I believe about fifty are quartered in the Maryknoll Mission Building at Stanley Military reliefs for (b) post above are marched down in threes from Stanley Fort at 0700,1100,1500,1900, 2300 and 0300 hours approximately.

-

I would estimate at least 200 Japanese troops quartered in Stanley Fort Movement by bus or lorry of troops to and from the fort is almost a daily occurrence, so this

Police figure cannot be regarded as more than an estimate. numbering 50 sikhs and 30 Cantonese are quartered in Stanley Police station and in foreign style houses in the village There are police posts at (day and night):

-

a) the small peninsular at the south end of the main street through the village on the west side of the narrowest part of the Stanley Peninsular.

b) At Stanley Police Station.

a) On the approach road to Stanley Fort about 100 yards south of the Police Station.

(Note (c) and (d) are just outside the camp boundaries)

e) There is probably a Police Sentry post overlooking the bathing beach on the east side of the narrowest part of the peninsular but I have no knowledge of the actual location I have heard firing on junks on this side.

-

By day There is a post within the Camp 100 yards north of the Gaol entrance, outside the former Prison officers club building.

Movement of Japanese, Police and Indian Warders to and from the gaol by the direct approach road by day is frequent There are some Japanese not ill disposed towards the internees, who are quartered in Stanley gaol numbering about 10.
